Grandma’s Spicy-Sweet Ginger Snaps

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • large egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon McNess Ground Cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (to dip the cookies in just before baking)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line 2 cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix together brown sugar, oil, molasses, and egg in a large bowl.
  3. Combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt; stir into the molasses mixture.
  4. Roll dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. Roll each ball in the granulated sugar before placing 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets.
  5. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until center is firm. Cool on wire racks for 5 minutes and then transfer cookies to the wire racks from the baking sheets to cool completely. Serve with your favorite tea, coffee or cold glass of milk! Enjoy!
